Great tutorial as always Aderson but I'm having the same problem that Manuel had with the apppool permissions in R2. He was able to figure it out. I haven't been able to. At Configure Database Connection I keep getting a login error. I have followed your tutorial to the letter. Any ideas?

Hi Robert,
I would try to ensure that the user and pass you are using are correct. You can check that by trying to use them when accessing the SQL Server Management studio. Don't log in as Windows Authentication - Try the SQL Server Authentication and use the same user/pass

Brand new everything again, this time using sql server 2008 (not R2). Logged into SQL using sa account and SQL Auth. Created a db and set permissions. Closed SQL. Re-opened SQL and now I can't login using the same sa credentials. I am able to login with Windows Auth. I did start SQL with "Run as admin...". I am not able to get past "Configure Database Connection" during the DNN install.
I followed the SQL install instructions here: www.symantec.com/connect/articles/install-and-configure-sql-server-2008-express using Named Instance and Instance ID as MSSQLSERVER. I've tried using this as the server in the "Configure Database Connection"....no joy.
I am unable to install DNN with the default settings either.
Hope you can help.

Hi Bob,
Are you sure you are putting the correct server name in the login box?
Try putting a dot only “.” – then try “.\SQLExpress” – I see people having problems with this sometimes, including myself.
If that still doesn’t work, let me know and we can arrange a skype call and you may share your screen with me so we can try to work this out together.

It can be a lot of things, but I have to suggestions for you:
1 - Maybe the web.config is malformed. I suggest you to try validating the XML of the web.config to see if you find any errors there. Maybe this will help www.w3schools.com/xml/xml_validator.asp
2 - It can also be permission. Check id the necessary permission is set correct for the site's folder

Hi Aderson,
Your installation tutorial works beautifully but I just ran into a strange error I've not seen before. After the installation of 6.2, I log in as host. When I attempt to navigate to Admin==>Site settings, I get the following error:
A critical error has occurred. The type initializer for 'FormatterGenerator' threw an exception
Any thoughts?
I don't have any problems going to the Host ---> Settings page, just admin.
