Re: How to create a Page Template in DotNetNuke, 2nd shot - Video #104
do you have anything on actually modifying what you exported. my understanding is that there are no designers so you have to hack xml code to get a new layout. is there an easier way?

Hi Tony,
How about you modify BEFORE you export? That way you don't have to hack the xml code at all.
But if you do want to modify AFTER exporting, then you will have to do some hacking.

Re: How to create a Page Template in DotNetNuke, 2nd shot - Video #104
i am not aware of any way to modify template panes before or after exporting except to modify the xml...it was this desire which lead me to your video....if i am mistaken i eagerly await your next video showing how to add, subtract and rearrange panes without opening the xml file and searching for the desired position to perform surgery...as i develop my site i realize that i need pane level control - the other stuff is somewhat trivial....i am also not sure that i know how to add containers although i will look into that...

Hi Tony,
I'm not clear yet about what you need here, but why don't we do this: Send me an email to aderson@dnnhero.com with your skype id or your phone number (if North America) so we can touch base and you can explain me what you need. I would love to talk to you and clear this up.
Cheers, -Aderson

Can you save over the default page template?

Re: How to create a Page Template in DotNetNuke, 2nd shot - Video #104
Yes you can. Just name it as Default. If it says that there is already one template with that name and if it doesn't allow, then go via FTP to "/portals/[PORTAL ID]/templates" and delete the default template file first.
Usually Portal ID will be "0" zero if you just have one portal.
BTW, before deleting the default portal file I strongly recommend creating a backup in case something goes wrong.

A little off topic, but how would I add a background image to the page itself?

Hi Nathan,
Did you try Admin/Site Settings/Appearance/Body Background?
