Not much can be done with a 3rd party module and no support available to source code. My suggestion is that you could get a developer to try to reverse engineer the .NET dlls related to this module. This is a long stretch but if that is a really important module and cannot be replaced by anything else, then it might be the only option.

Alternatively you could also get a developer to recode the module.

HI Aderson,

Well the saga continues...I am having so many problems that I think the best move at this point is to install a backup of the site to the starting point when everything was working in ver 5.2.2 and try to track down the source code for this custom module.  I don't know of any existing module that can do what this is doing.  (Basically, the user creates a zip file containing each employees payroll document for that payroll run.  The naming convention for the documents are that each file must start with the DNN assigned User ID.  Then the zip file is uploaded and each employees payroll document is placed into a folder on the DNN site that is named with the users DNN User ID. Each user then has access to the files that match their user ID)

Anyway, I did the backup with Evotiva and want to restore it using Evotiva. the site is hosted at PowerDNN.  My question is, since I am going backwards in versions, do I need to delete all files and database from the PowerDNN server before in upload the Evotiva install pack and do the restore?

Cheers

Hutch

Hi Hutch,

Great question and even though I have not gone through that process before I don't think you need to delete, but I would suggest you do for the site files. Here is why:

1 - The site files will be copied over the new ones. Now, one thing may happen here: you may end up with more files than what you need as most likely there are new files from DNN6 that will be left behind if you don't delete the site files.

2 - During the database restore it will ask you to confirm if you want to wipe out the current db. You should confirm that.

Good luck!

Thanks Aderson.

I did manage to get things back to 5.2.2 using Evotiva.  I deleted the files from the PDNN server and everything went fine.

I cloned the customer site onto my own dev machine and ran the upgrade from 5.2.2 to 6.2.2 and got one error:

00:00:31.839 - Installing Package File HTML_Community_05.02.00_Install: Error!

How serious is this and do you know why it happened?

Hi Hutch,

Hard to say what that can be. You should get more details if you look at the upgrade log file that is stored under /providers/dataproviders/sqldataprovider

Also, try to use the HTML editor and see if it is working. Try to make changes to content and save.

Cheers,
