We are looking at building a site for a client which will have 60+ pages, each used to display information about individuals.
The solution needs to be able to create a "page" per person which will adopt a common style, i.e. display picture, name, company title etc.

The data needs to be stored in such a way that it can be pulled through to different pages other than the profiles page, such as a page for Maths teachers only displays profiles tagged as Maths Dept.

This needs to be managed centrally by the end user in a manner which is simpler than manually creating static pages with HTML modules.

In the past, for lesser projects we have used an Articles type module, but this time the URL's need to be more SEO and user friendly i.e. take out "/tabid/100/Articleid/1/" etc.

We are looking to achieve this without bespoke module development.

For that I would strongly recommend xMod - There is a learning curve to go through but once you are done, you will be able to achieve what you have posted.

You can find some videos on xMod here as well.

We use xMod quite extensively here on DNNHero.com - Many features were built with it like the DotNetNuke Professionals page - You will see something quite similar to what you have described.

In regards to the friendly URL, that is a bit trickier as you would have to play around with the URL rewrite add-on to IIS. You can only do that if you have your own server and full access to your IIS. We did that here. If you click on any professional you will see that the URL has their name there. Quite SEO friendly I think.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Thanks for the quick reply.....

Would ifinity also be worth looking to re-write the URL's at site level rather than directly on the server?

Thanks
Allan

Hi Allan,

I would assume that ifinity is also a possibility for that, but I cannot tell you from my experience as I have not used ifinity much.

Cheers,

Aderson

Thanks Aderson,

How have you configured xMod to generate its own page per profesional?

I can only get it to use the same page.

Thanks.
