To create multi-page complex extranet applications for different set of clients and employees in a single DNN instance, which approach to follow ?

I plan to create a custom authentication login module which authenticates a user and adds a few extra custom properties to user profile and redirects authenticated users to a landing page. This landing page authorizes the user based on external database and shows only those apps that user is assigned to (landing page like icloud).

1. Create Child portals for each application, create separate pages under those portals and import common modules like menu bar and other common modules in each of the portal's pages?

2. Or Create Modules for each of the extranet application ?

 

Thank you Aderson.  By complex extranet applications, i mean a client can navigate using a menu to forms to update few business entities in external DB using Forms and list UI (with telerik controls) and also can view reports (using highcharts jquery plugin ).

Business Case :-
Public site:- 
A company website with navigation to static public pages, like About Us, Services, Locations & Contact Us etc.
Also provide persmissions to certain users who maintain the content for these public pages.

Once users are authenticated they will be redirected to Application catalog page, here display links to application they were assigned to.

App# 1- Configure Service App :-
A service company wants to create a catalog of the services and offer them as products to clients.
There are some services which are predefined or configured in external DB. 
There a some new service products that can be configured by a set of Users, lets say Configurators.

A service product is made of several small tasks. Configurators will use ui in this app to configure these new service products.

App# 2 - Create and Maintain Users with custom properties and roles :-

These Users will have custom properties Codes, Geo Lat-Long etc.
Now these Users can belong to any category. A user of the type Group can have many users who belong to Region category and so on.
A Group -> has Regions -> has districts -> General Users 
When a user of the type Region logs in to DNN instance, this app will pull all the users under him/her and display in list.
Then he can select individual user and update their information in detail Info page.
App# 3 - Reports :-
This app will show various reports with charts using telerik controls.
The company intends to add more extranet apps to this dnn instance in future.
