I wonder if anyone has seen this and has a resolution?

Upon manually installing a fresh instance of DNN 7.2 on a shared server, and being taken to "Go to Website" for the first time (already logged in as host)... I am getting a pop up box asking for server login:

==

Authentication Required

The server http://www.DOMAIN.com:80 requires a username and password. The server says:
www.DOMAIN.com

User Name:
Password:

==

If you were to visit the site and clicked on "login", you would get a 404 error in the DNN login window.

This HAS been discussed in DNN forums, but the solution is not clear and many of the threads talk of the pop up authentication box coming when trying to add a module, etc..
I can't even get that far as I cannot login.

There is no folder authentication requirements set on the hosting account. And I am quite certain this is not a problem for the hosting company..it is a DNN thing.

Also, I have successfully installed 7.2 on another domain with the same host.
But this one, I have tried 3 or 4 times (purging files and database each time) with no luck.

Any ideas??

Best regards,

Bruce

Hi Bruce,

2 things I can think of:

1 - Check if Forms Authentication is enabled on IIS;

2 - Making sure the IIS network user has full access to the site files;

As you have a shared environment, you may have to ask your hosting provider to check these for you.

Best regards,

Aderson

Thanks Aderson,

I will check.

That said, I should have mentioned that this hosting account was running DNN 6 previously.
I purged that out and installed a fresh copy of 7.2.

We host lots of DNN there :-)

Cheers,
Bruce

Having the same trouble with  fresh Install of DNN 7.2.0.   I verified permissions and the IIS stuff that Aderson suggested but still having the issue.

Hi Hutch,

I don't really have more suggestions, but if this is accessible from the web, please send me access via email and I will check it for you.

Cheers,

Aderson
