Hello,

I have a instance of dnn 7 installed on my local machine which I use for module development.

I'm getting an error on the main page of the site. Simply says 'DNN Error' with a button containing text 'return to site'.
So I can't access the site.

I've tried recycling the application pool,. rebooting the machine but it makes no difference.

Event log table contains errors for
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION
APPLICATION_START
SCHEDULER_EVENT_FAILURE
SCHEDULER_EXCEPTION
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION

PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION
PAGE_LOAD_EXCEPTION
. . .

Does anyone know how to correct this? Or can tell me what causes it?

Steve

Hi Steve,

I'm releasing a series of troubleshooting videos this week. The first 3 are live and you can find them at:

7 Techniques to troubleshoot problems on your DNN website - Part 1/5
7 Techniques to troubleshoot problems on your DNN website - Part 2/5
7 Techniques to troubleshoot problems on your DNN website - Part 3/5

There are still 2 more videos to be released tomorrow and Friday, but here are their preview links so you can watch them right away. I think the last 2 videos will be most beneficial to help you with this problem but watch them in sequence:

7 Techniques to troubleshoot problems on your DNN website - Part 4/5

7 Techniques to troubleshoot problems on your DNN website - Part 5/5

Best regards,
Aderson

Hi Aderson,

I found the problem. For some reason, it seems (I assume) that Visual Studio changes the 'DesktopModules' folder into a virtual directory. I simply removed it and now its working fine. Phew!

Thank you for your help, by the way, those videos are definitely useful.

Steve
