Here are a few questions I still don't have answers to.

I am running DNN 7.1.2 and I created a host user and a admin user (defined as administrator under the Security Settings).

Whenever a user registers, here is what happens :
- admin receives 2 emails + 1 notification
- host receive 1 email + 1 notification

1. I unchecked the option "Receive user registration notification" but that didn't change a thing. Is there a bug there ?

2. Is there a way to disable the notifications ? I don't want to use this on my website and for now I just "hide" it using the LegacyMode on my skins. But the notifications are still stacking up and growing behind the scene.

3. Is there a way to just send one email to the admin ? The first one would suffice cos' it's a copy of the user registration. But the other two are just the admin sending an email to itself and to the host to let him know someone registered.

4. Is there somewhere a list of all different messages/notifications (ex : log, unregister, new role ...) and to whom they are sent to ?

5. What about the email under Host Details, is it used for something else than testing the SMTP connection ?

Hi Stephane,

1 / 2 / 3 - Please check if your site has more than one user set as site administrators. This might be the reason why you are getting multiples. Only "Administrators" will receive emails. That has been my experience;

4 - Not a single place unfortunately, but site level messages are sent to the "Administrators" of the site;

5 - I can only think of one other type of message that gets sent to host level. It is when a new portal has been created. Other messages are all site level and they get sent to the "Administrators";

Best regards,

Aderson

During DNN installation, you now only create one (Host) account, so it gets the administrator security role by default.

I thought only the user defined as Administrator under Security Settings (Admin > Site Settings > Advanced Settings) will get those emails.

But as you mentioned that all administrators receive those emails, I had to go under Security Roles and remove rights to the administrators role for the Host Account.

>> I still have two questions remaining.

My admin user still receives 2 emails and 1 notification.

1. I don't use notifications and messages under DNN, is there a way to remove this functionality ?

2. The option/checkbox "Receive user registration notification" does not have any effect under Registration Settings (Admin > Site Settings > User Account Settings).

Is there a way for my admin user to receive a single email upon as user registration ?

Thanks in advance,

Stéphane.

Hi Stéphane,

1 - You could potentially disable SMTP, but that would leave your site without any email capabilities at all;

2 - I still don't get why your admin user gets 2 emails. I haven't seem this before. Maybe if you share access to the site I can have a look around and try to identify why that is happening.

Aderson

Well I installed locally a brand new fresh DNN 7.1.2 to be sure that was not coming from my site.

You don't have to do much to reproduce : install DNN 7.1.2, then register a new user => Your host (which is also the only admin) should receive 2 emails.

I did some tests and only the administrator defined under Security Settings is receiving 2 emails.

The 1st email is only sent to this administrator and it has the same subject than the one received by the registered user : "My Website New User Registration"

The 2nd email, sent to all administrators has a subject "new message from host" and seem to "embed" the above email.

Best Regards,

Stéphane
