Hi Aderson,

I wasn't thinking of 'cache killer' for regular users, just a means of testing whether it is indeed the cache causing the problem.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

Whenever you rename a page, it creates a 301 redirect from the old page to the new one. I had redirect loops in the past and what I used to do was to clean up this table: TabUrls

This is the table that stores the Urls that you have renamed and provide the 301 redirect rules.

Try that and clear the site's cache. Better that than recreating the page.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Thank you for the TabsUrl table tip.

Yes, that would be much better than rebuilding the page.

Do you mean clear it up using SQL Server Management Studio?

Is there any way to have nice clean URLs without a 301 redirect?

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

To clarify, the TabsUrl entries are only created when you rename a page so that the old URL becomes a 301 to the new URL.

So when you just create a page, you don't have a 301 redirect. It is a nice clean URL.

Let me know if it makes sense or if I missed your point.

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Thank you for your reply. Sorry for the delay in mine.

When I create a page (via page copy), I don't enter anything into the 'Page URL' text box.
The page is created having a url with the correct structure but with hyphens substituted for spaces.

I then have to change the url to remove the hyphens, and make everything lower case. I can see that it's this change which causes the entry to be added into the tabsurl table.

If I try to put an entry into the 'Page URL text box, it's ignored.

What I'd like to do is have the url at least without the hyphens and without causing a redirect. Do you know if that's possible?
I would assume there's a slight performance hit by having a redirect.

I'm not sure how editing the 'TabUrls' table will help. I don't want to remove the entry and lose the 'renamed' page URLs.

Or did you mean duplicate entries?

To test the removal of duplicate entries, I tried re-editing the URL. That creates a second entry for the page in the taburls table. I then got the 'page redirected too many times' error in the browser. I then deleted the previous entry in the taburls table, but still get the 'page redirected . . .' error. So I'm not sure how deleting duplicate entries can help.

The http status remained at 200, I can see entries for other pages of 301, but I'm not sure at what point this happens.

Best Regards,

Steve
