Hello,

I have a site which i'm building on my local machine with version 7.3.3 on DNN.

The suddenly stopped displaying correctly, everything above the banner i.e. the menu, logo and login links are not displayed, instead the following line apears:

ype="0x1000000c" encoding="base64" value="UABlAHIAYwBlAGkAdgBlAGQAVAB5AHAAZQAAAA=="/>

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Any ideas what to do?

There's nothing in the event log, which i had to look at using sql server management studio.

Best Regards

Steve

Hi Steve,

That's a new addition to my "DNN Strange Problems" list.

I would try the obvious windows restart and then I would try looking on the Windows Event log and I would also try Fiddler to see if you could gather any additional information.

If nothing works, I would be curious to check it closely. You could zip it all up (db ans site files) and send them to me so I could check, I love the strange problems. They become a challenge. :)

Best regards,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Finally I managed to get this issue sorted out. But first thank you so much for your kind offer, I can't tell you how much better that made me feel to have that option if need be.

Firstly, I found a corrupt and unreadable directory for a 3rd party module in DesktopModules which I simply replaced from backup. That brought back that modules content on to the site.

I ran a full system scan to check for viruses which revealed nothing, then a complete scan of all disks to check for corrupt files/directories, which also revealed nothing.

Since there were no entries in the event log, that left me guessing what to do. In the end, I created a complete copy of the site, then extracted the skin files from the install zip file and copied them over the site's corresponding skin files.
Then Bingo, everything started working :-) Phew!

I suspect my machine, since I've noticed a few other strange things (lost cookies for 2 browsers; when opening ms word it closes after a few seconds).

Thank you so much for your offer once again.

Best Regards,

Steve

Hi Steve,

The the culprit was a corrupted skin related file then? I'm glad you sorted that out!

Cheers,

Aderson

Hi Aderson,

Yes, plus the corrupt module directory.

I need to get my machine checked out.
